Past Events and Timeline
- June 2006 – Burlington sent letter to neighborhood to start petition for Sound Barriers.
- July 2006 – Burlington neighbors met with Senator Havern at Burlington Library.
- August 2006 - Formed Burlington Sound Barrier Committee and started petition drive.
- August 2006 - Burlington Sound Barrier Committee worked with Senator Havern and Representative Murphy to go before
Board of Selectmen to ask for their formal support and to scribe a letter to Mass Highway regarding Burlington and Sound Barriers.
- August 2006 – Woburn residents and City Councilors contacted Senator Havern and Representative Natale to request
assistance on obtaining sound barriers for Woburn.
- August 2006 – Woburn residents contact Burlington Sound Barrier Committee to explore alliance.
- September 2006 – Burlington Sound Barrier rally at 19 Lowell Street - CBS4 News covered.
- September 2006 – Woburn City Councilors collect signatures and petition Mass Highway for sound barriers.
- October 2006 – Woburn Sound Barrier Committee is established, website launched and partnership formed with
Burlington Sound Barrier Committee.
- October 2006 - Primary - obtained signatures for petitions outside polls.
- November 2006 - Large Burlington/Woburn Rally at Winn Street on/off ramps in Burlington.
- November 2006 - Election - obtained signatures for petitions outside polls.
- December 2006 - Large Woburn/Burlington Rally at Rte 38 rotary in Woburn.
- January 2007 - Burlington obtained a non-binding resolution from Town Meeting - unanimous vote.
- March 2007 – Woburn Aldermen file resolution endorsing petitioning to State Legislature - unanimous vote.

- May 2007 - Members of the Burlington and Woburn Sound Barrier Committees, along with representatives from the Woburn City Council and Burlington Board of Selectmen,
delivered our post cards and petitions and we had a very successful initial introductory meeting with a senior member of the Governor’s office, 2 high ranking Mass Highway officials, Senator Havern, Representatives Kaufman, Murphy & Natale at the State House. Read the news ...
- June 2007 - 100+ person Burlington/Woburn Sound Barrier Rally in Burlington.
- June 2007 - 50+ people attend Woburn & Burlington Sound Barrier Community BBQ Gathering at Boyd Road, Woburn

- June 2008 - Sound Barrier Rally Prep & Sync Meeting.
- June 2008 - Presentations to Woburn City Council & Burlington Board of Selectmen.
- June 2008 - Large joint sound barrier rally was held by the Burlington and Woburn Sound Barrier committees.
The rally was held from 10-11A in Woburn at the rotary at Route 38 and Main Street (Exit 35 off of Route 128). We were joined at
the rally by well over 50 sound barrier committee members from Woburn and Burlington.
Also in attendance at the rally were State Representatives Pat Natale and Jay Kaufman; Senate
candidates Ken Donnelly and Jack Hurd; Woburn Aldermen Joanna Gonsalves, Jim Dwyer
(who is also a candidate for State Representative), Darlene Mercer-Bruen and Mike Raymond;
Burlington Selectman Gary Gianino; Woburn public television; and the local Burlington and Woburn newspapers.
