Sound Barrier Citizens' Public Meeting
March 14, 2007
Thank you to all of the citizens that attended the Citizens Public Meeting on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Woburn Senior Center. It was a
tremendous turn out with approximately 200 people joining us to demonstrate their support for constructing Sound Barriers in
Burlington and Woburn . The Senior Center was packed wall-to-wall! What a nice problem for us to have.
We appreciate the support of Senator Bob Havern; Representatives Charlie Murphy, Pat Natale and Jay Kaufman;
Woburn Mayor Tom McLaughlin; Burlington Chairman Gary Gianino; the Woburn Aldermen; and the Burlington Selectmen.
During the meeting, Senator Havern officially provided the proposed language that he and Representatives Murphy,
Natale and Kaufman are filing at the State House to seek $11 million dollars of funding as an amendment to the
upcoming Capital Bond/Transportation Bond Bill so that we can receive money to construct sound barriers along Routes 128
and 93 in Burlington and Woburn. This document has been posted here on our site.
We will be publishing more details shortly regarding our next steps for a rally in
May and for delivering our post cards to
Governor Deval Patrick so that we can formally begin the lobbying process at the State House in support of the filing of this amendment. You can
download and print additional copies of this postcard by clicking here.
We would also like to thank the Woburn Senior Center for hosting this event and for allowing us to use their facilities.
